John Carpenter embraces his destiny, as the acclaimed director expresses his newfound fondness for the online first-person shooter (FPS) "Destiny 2."

In an interview with The Guardian, the legendary Hollywood director talked about his twilight years hobby, which is playing video games like "Destiny 2." Carpenter even stated, "I've dedicated my life to learning how to play it. At my age why not? It keeps me out of trouble." Players should then watch out as the director is out to score some kills and find some loot in Bungie's sequel to "Destiny," no matter what it takes.

Carpenter also stated that "shooting aliens" is not exactly easy, even if it happens in a digital space, which is why he wanted to put a lot of effort into learning to play "Destiny 2." Despite the challenging aspect of the game, especially for someone who is Carpenter's age, the Hollywood director described the game as a fun experience.

Carpenter is not exactly a stranger to science fiction (sci-fi), and "Destiny 2" is not his first foray into the FPS genre. Back in May, he took to Twitter to rave about his immersive experience in "Prey," a survival horror FPS set in a dangerous space station orbiting a moon and one of the biggest titles of gaming this 2017. Carpenter noted that "Prey" was a complex and engrossing sci-fi experience, and the story and the gameplay dragged him in until the end of the game.

This gesture drew the attention and gratitude of "Prey's" creative director, Raphael Colantonio. Some fans even suggested that the "Prey" development team make a video game adaptation of the original "The Thing," which was one of Carpenter's horror magnum opuses.

It seems that the famous Hollywood director has no plans in stopping his newfound hobby, although with his current fixation on "Destiny 2," other sci-fi FPS games may have to be put on a list.

"Destiny 2" is available now on PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, while its PC version will be released on Oct. 24.
