"Destiny 2" is changing its fate, with its developers laying out plans for major changes regarding the in-game rewards after players have discovered the purposefully hobbled experience point (XP) system.
Bungie, the developers of the said first-person shooter (FPS), is now committing to significant changes to the game's XP reward system after its player base pointed out how unfair it is. Bungie has now reworked the way XP is rewarded to the long-time and high-level players of the game since then, stating that they also did not like it and even had to scrap the system during the Thanksgiving holiday.
In order to compensate for the increased XP gains now, the developers are adding more endgame content in the game, where players will be able to set goals and improve their characters' gear. This new content was announced in the official blog post by Bungie itself and includes a new tier of weapons, private matches for player vs. player battles, and better rewards for Strikes, Adventures, and Lost Sectors.
Players will have to wait until after the Holiday season, however, as Bungie has targeted a January release for the new content, or at least its Prestige activities update. This means they'll be hard at work during that time. In the meantime, the smaller and more manageable updates might get released before the year ends.
Most of the changes being introduced in December will consist of bug and balance fixes for the game, while the substantial gameplay updates may not see implementation until early next year. Rest assured, Bungie has promised that these will improve gameplay generously, adding more replay value and longevity to the FPS.
The development team has also acknowledged the stress they have caused the players by their lack of communication, as well as their previously undiscovered XP system. They have now promised to be more open and cooperate with the players and their feedback in order to take the game into a new direction.
"Destiny 2" is available on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Microsoft Windows.
