The "Death Stranding" trailer left a good impression on the people of The Game Awards and everyone who watched it. While some may think it may take a while before this game's release, it may not actually take too long. At the very least, game developer Hideo Kojima says that they will have a big surprise for its fans next year.

Kojima recently talked about the game during an interview with Japanese magazine, Dengeki PlayStation, as per Siliconera. One of the most important things he said was about how the game was being made.

"Things are going smoothly enough to the point Sony Interactive Entertainment said 'We've never seen a game be made at such as fast pace' about Death Stranding's development," said Kojima. "We plan to announce something that will surprise everyone in 2018." While this is far from an official statement of the game's official release, it still is a clue to a possible estimate.

The way those sentences were said, it would make sense if it would be an announcement on the game's release. Even if it does not get released within 2018, fans can still possibly get the game way earlier than anybody expected. Kojima's games have had a reputation for slow development, but it looks like things have changed now that he is not working for a big company.

There are only a few things people know about "Death Stranding." As the trailer has shown, it seems to be set in a post-apocalyptic world with Norman Reedus and Mads Mikkelsen playing important characters. It will also be a PlayStation 4 (PS4) exclusive as the trailer was even shown on a PS4 Pro.

Given Kojima's previous games, including those that have been canceled, people have their theories on what the story is going to be about. Nevertheless, it should hopefully live up to the hype once it gets released.
