'Dark Souls III' tips: Biggest secrets revealed

 Xbox Marketplace/From Software

While "Dark Souls III" continues to break sales records for its publisher, players can't help but continue on uncovering each secret and Easter eggs in the latest installment from Bandai Namco and developer FromSoftware. This early in its global release, fans and hardcore veteran players have already uncovered some details in "Dark Souls III" hidden from casual players.

Check out all the endings

Like previous installments in the franchise, "Dark Souls III" also contains different endings depending on the choices of the players, and how the quests branched out. According to GameSpot, there are at least three endings to "Dark Souls III," with the "Usurping the Fire" branch even having its own alternative ending. The easiest to get is "To Link the First Flame," which players can accomplish by just hacking their way through the final boss. The first "Usurping the Fire" meanwhile, requires the Eyes of the Firekeeper item. Killing the Firekeeper while obtaining the item triggers the alternative version.

Meanwhile, "Lord of Hollows" may be the hardest to trigger, as it requires several steps. However, it can be considered as the most satisfying ending in the game.

Level up fast in Smouldering Lake

One of the most overlooked optional boss fights is the Old Demon King, but reaching him can also net faster level-ups for beginners. The location, Smouldering Lake, is a hidden area connected to the Catacombs of Carthus. Reaching the boss will have players encounter different enemies, and it is advisable to have a co-op partner.

Get special items from Firelink Shrine rooftop

When players gain access to the rooftop in Firelink Shrine, checking out the area thoroughly can gain players some special rewards. The rooftop is home to Pickleplum the Crow, and placing items in the crow's nest can net some special item rewards like upgrade items, and Armor of the Sun.
