'Dancing with the Stars' 2014: Will Alfonso Ribeiro join the semi-finals?

Alfonso Ribeiro is remaining hopeful that he and his dance partner, Witney Carson, would still be able to compete in the semi-finals of "Dancing with the Stars" season 19. The "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" actor reportedly pulled his back during rehearsals this week.

Ribeiro updated his fans on Saturday, Nov. 15, tweeting, "Hey #TeamWitfonso thanks 4 all the love. I'm working really hard to be able to dance Monday. Keep the prayers coming. Love you all."

The Ribeiro-Carson pair is among the remaining five dancing pairs hoping to gain the highly-coveted Mirror Ball Trophy. In the previous week, they danced foxtrot to Robbie Williams' "Ain't That a Kick in the Head?" for which they received 37 points out of 40, and then did a paso doble routine to DJ Snake & Lil Jon's "Turn Down for What" which garnered them a perfect score. For the Plugged/ Unplugged Week this coming Monday, they will reportedly tango and do a contemporary dance.

Carson also took to Twitter to give fans an update, saying, "Thank you #TeamWitfonso for all the love. @alfonso_ribeiros back is better but still in pain... We are staying positive."

In another post, she said, "Getting treatment in rehearsal for @alfonso_ribeiro. Needless to say this has been a rough week but were pushin thru"

In the upcoming Plugged/Unplugged week, the pairs will perform routines to two different renditions of the same song. The reported line-up of performances is as follows:

Alfonso Ribeiro and Witney Carson - "Love Runs Out"

  • Plugged (One Republic): Argentine tango
  • Unplugged (Christina Grimmie): Contemporary
