CSW to Run Roadshows across UK to Raise Awareness of Christian Persecution

Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW), the UK-based human rights agency, has announced it will run a series of roadshows across the UK to raise the awareness of Christian persecution. This initiative will replace the annual International Christian Human Rights Conference entitled Don’t Stand in Silence hosted by CSW, Release International and Premier Christian Radio.

Don’t Stand In Silence aims to target those who are unaware of the extent of religious persecution around the world. Delegates to the conference will be invited to pledge their support for the persecuted Church.

The decision to replace the annual conference with these roadshows was made after prayer and careful consideration. CSW has realised that it is now time for a fresh approach to the way they reach their supporters, and the resources they provide for them.

While the conference held in the Westminster Chapel, London, during November the previous year, lasted just one day, the Don’t Stand in Silence roadshows will allow CSW to equip, encourage and motivate people in a far more effective and personalised way.

As usual, this year’s conference features an amazing line-up of guest speakers. The Revd Rinaldy Damanik, Chairman of the Protestant Church of Central Sulawesi, who was unjustly imprisoned in Indonesia, as well as prominent CSW spokesperson, Jonathan Aitken, will be at some of the venues. Worship will be led by David Hind for all England roadshows and Ian White for all Scotland roadshows.

Last year, some 1,500 delegates attended the Don’t Stand In Silence conference. Speakers from China, Colombia, Sri Lanka and Eritrea were invited to give their real life testimony about the persecution they have faced.

CSW Don’t Stand in Silence team will be travelling across the UK, visiting 12 cities for two weeks in October and November to run a series of roadshows. The provisional schedule is as follows: 28th October in Glasgow; 29th October in Edinburgh; 30th October in Aberdeen; 31st October in St Andrews; 6th November in Ipswich; 7th November in North London; 8th November in Guildford; 9th November in Exeter; 10th November in Cardiff; 11th November in Oxford; 12th November in Birmingham and 13th November in Nottingham.

The entry for roadshows is completely free, but advance reservation is recommended. Bookings can be made from September onwards via the Supporter Hotline 0845 456 5464 or through the website for the event, www.dontstandinsilence.info.
