"The Voice" contestant Jordan Smith impressed viewers of the show so much with his singing chops that he was eventually proclaimed the winner in Season 9.

He has already made history as the best selling artist of "The Voice," having sold more than one million singles in just under six months, according to CBN. To top it all off, he is a top-charting artist on iTunes.

When Smith gave his rendition of the gospel classic "His Eye is on the Sparrow" during the 17th annual Super Bowl Gospel Celebration event recently, fans could not help but cheer for him.

The Christian singer has just released his new single called "Stand in the Light," which is part of his upcoming album. The song showcases Smith's powerful vocal range accompanied by thought-provoking lyrics. The album will be released on March 18.

Earlier, the 22-year-old Kentucky native said during an interview with Yahoo! Music that he plans to use his talent and popularity to evoke positive emotions out of people.

"I want to keep doing music that inspires people; that's such a part of what I did on the show, and I'm all about music that provokes emotions," he said.

"I want to make music that people connect with. I think there are songs out there that when you hear them, they bring you back to a certain place. I want to make music like that. I think I've learned on the show just how powerful music can be when it comes from your heart and means something to you," Smith added.

Before going on "The Voice," Smith did not think of himself as a performer. As such he feels very thankful for the show for giving him confidence and opening doors for him.
