The team is back with a new case in "Chicago PD" season 3, which premieres Sept. 30. Titled "Life is Fluid," the season opener will see the most wanted criminal in the city Derek Keyes terrorize the city.

This time, he abducts Halstead, who was trying to pursue Lindsay to come back to the force after not hearing from her for three weeks. She eventually does, her return having been prompted by the heroin kingpin getting close to beating up the Intelligence detective to death.

"The day that she comes back to help is a hell of a day," Sophia Bush told The Hollywood Reporter about her character's return. "It's the first time since Nadia's death that she's felt at her center again, and that makes her question what she's been doing and why she's given up," she went on to say.

As teased in the "Chicago PD" season 3 premiere synopsis, Halstead has been trying to get through to Lindsay before she completely severs her ties from the team .Meanwhile, Voight, who is expected to be the first person to convince her, seems to have lost all the care in the world for Lindsay, emphasizing that "she's made her choice."

During the three weeks she was gone, Lindsay has been drinking to cope with the passing of Nadia. In the "Chicago PD" season 3 premiere trailer, she seems to have gone back to her tough self and volunteers to rescue Halstead after the kidnappers demanded the police to send a lone female officer.

The same clip shows that Voight is the least bit up for the idea. But seeing Halstead all beat up and being continuously tortured seems to have changed his mind. It also looks like Lindsay no longer wants to lose another important person in her life.

The rest of the synopsis for the "Chicago PD" season 3 premiere airing Sept. 30 reads:

"At District, Olinsky opens up to Platt about a secret from his past. Roman expresses his concerns to Burgess about what she's getting into by marrying Ruzek."
