'Castle' Season 7 spoilers: Rick Castle is alive, Nathan Fillion confirmed to return for new season

"Castle" fans will be glad to know that lead star Nathan Fillion is returning for season 7. This pretty much means that Rick Castle is not dead, which begs the question, what happened to him and where is he?

The season 6 finale ended in flames. It was Castle and Beckett's wedding, one which "Castle" fans have been waiting for in a long time. Now that they've finally overcome all relationship hurdles and are ready to get married, Beckett finds Castle's car in a ditch and burning. Many thought that Castle was dead, but Fillion gave new hope to all fans at the San Diego Comic-Con.

Although Fillion didn't reveal details about his character on season 7, he did answer some questions pertaining to his relationship with Beckett.

In a TV Line interview, he shared: "We made people wait a long time for these two characters to finally get together. Now that they are together, how much longer can we make people wait for the wedding, I think becomes my question. You don't want people to become bored in the waiting." Does this mean that Castle and Beckett will reunite early in season 7?

TV Line also spoke to him about the new showrunner David Amann. "They're in very capable hands," he said. "[He's[ the right hand guy... in a lot of ways," he adds. Fillion also shared that Amann has been working with them in the past four years and was even part of his favorite episodes.

There will be a new methodology around Castle in the upcoming season. Fillion described it, saying "We've covered some ground as far as the two characters coming together, pulling apart."

"We need a new reason to come back and face a new season, and so far, so good," Fillion said.

"Castle" Season 7 returns on September 28.
