"Captain Marvel" may have just added another actor to its cast.
First picked up by Omega Underground, Argentine TV actor Gaston Dalmau made an unofficial announcement to his verified Twitter page that he is joining Marvel's first-ever female-led superhero movie.
"Anxious to join this amazing crew and cast! / Ansioso por unirme a este gran equipo técnico y elenco #CaptainMarvel," Dalmau wrote on Thursday.
Dalmau is best known for portraying Ramiro "Rama" Ordoñez in the Argentine soap opera drama "Casi Ángeles" and as a member of music group Teen Angels. Although he has been an established actor over a decade now, he has also worked behind the camera in big-budget productions including Marvel's "Doctor Strange" and "Captain America Civil War." According to the IMDb page cited on his Twitter bio, he was a digital compositor in the former film and a visual effects assistant in the latter.
His social media posting is by no means any confirmation, so fans should take it with a grain of salt for now. However, Omega notes that Marvel has a reputation for hiring international actors for its movies. The fact that Dalmau resides in Los Angeles also makes him a suitable addition.
Filming for "Captain Marvel" was originally set in Atlanta, where many previous Marvel Studios movies filmed, but a previous report claimed it has been moved to Los Angeles.
Unfortunately, there are no indications on what he will be playing in the film, although the current roles up for casting include Air Force officers and members of the alien species Kree and Skrulls. There is not much media coverage about his announcement, so his role might not be that big. The publication suspects Dalmau could only be one of the many more international actors that would announce their involvement in the film.
"Captain Marvel" is expected to start principal photography February and wrap up by mid-July. Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, the movie will premiere on March 8, 2019, with Brie Larson in the lead role.
