'Call of Duty' Ghosts Invasion DLC release date; Four new maps to launch for PC, PS3, PS4

The new map pack for "Call of Duty: Ghosts" will hit the shelves in a couple of weeks. Activision, the company behind the game, has finally confirmed the released date for the "Invasion" map pack. The map pack for PC, PS3 and PS4 will be launched on July 3, Thursday.

The map pack is priced at $14.99. But for Season Pass Holders, they can download the update for free.

What will you get from the update anyway? There are four new maps that are small to medium in size, according to Digital Spy. There will also be new field orders and the update features "Awakening," the latest episode for the Extinction co-op mode.

The maps are namely Departed, Pharoah, Mutiny and Favela. Departed is a medium-sized map with a rural Mexican town setting, as described by PlayStation Lifestyle. The streets are colorful with plenty of vendor carts and storefronts to be used as cover for players who like to run-and-gun. When the map's field order is completed, the Death Mariachi kill streak will be unlocked. Death Mariachi will turn killed enemies into temporary squad mates.

Pharoah has an Egyptian setting with collapsing monuments and flesh-eating scarabs. It's a multi-level map and there are multiple chambers too. Players who like close-quarter combat and using short-range weapons will enjoy the Pharoah. Once the field order is completed, the mighty Anubis will reward you handsomely.

Mutiny has a Carribean Island setting. The main place of combat is the pirate hideout with trading posts and prison cells. This map features narrow pathways and stealth will be an advantage. Just a tip though, don't position yourself in the center of the pirate ship, it's a vulnerable position. Once the field order is completed, you'll be rewarded with two ethereal ghost pirates. The ghost pirates will help you lock your enemies in Davey Jones' locker.

Favela is based on the "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2" map, which is a huge favorite among players. Favela still has a Brazilian setting, but it has been improved. Buildings are completed, and players can jump from one building to another while looking down different pathways. Players who complete the field order will be rewarded with air support using a 105mm cannon, 25mm cannon and 40mm auto cannon.

Getting excited already? Mark that calendar and get your "Call of Duty: Ghost" Invasion map pack update on July 3.
