Bono to be Honoured at NAACP Awards for AIDS and Poverty Work

|PIC1|U2's Bono is to be honoured at the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People) Image Awards tonight for his contribution to the fight against AIDS and global poverty.

The organisation will present the singer with the Chairman's Award during tonight's ceremony. Other special honourees include Bill Cosby and Soledad O'Brien.

In other news, the US-based audio Bible, which features some of Hollywood's biggest names, was recently chosen as a nominee for "Outstanding Gospel Artist - Traditional or Contemporary" in the 38th NAACP Image Awards.

Released by Zondervan, Inspired By... The Bible Experience: New Testament Audio CD is a dramatised reading of the entire New Testament. It includes voices from over 200 prominent actors, including Blair Underwood (Jesus), Samuel L Jackson (God), Angela Bassett (Esther), Denzel Washington (Solomon), Cuba Gooding Jr (Judas).

Other nominees for the NAACP Awards include Gnarls Barkley, Chris Brown, Mary J. Blige, Beyonce, Corinne Bailey Rae, Fantasia, India.Arie, Prince and Jay-Z.

The awards will air live in the US this Friday 2 March, on FOX Channel.
