'Big Bang Theory' season 8: Cast still without contract - Is Jim Parsons quitting?

Can "The Big Bang Theory" fans imagine the show without Sheldon? News broke online that Jim Parsons, the guy who plays Sheldon, is quitting the show due to a fight with Johnny Galecki, who plays Leonard. Thankfully, the article was a hoax. However, Parson is still unsure whether his character will be back in season 8.

Talking to USA Today, Parsons admitted to Carly Mallenbaum that he is not sure whether his character will be returning in the new season of "The Big Bang Theory." "I haven't read it [script] yet, so, I don't know," he said. Parsons also told Mallenbaum that when he tried asking the writer if his character was being written off, the writer "guffawed."

The question of Sheldon's departure from the show was triggered with the season 7 finale. Sheldon boarded a train to Pasadena as he couldn't really cope easily with the changes happening around him.

This paved the way for satirical new site Empire News to publish a story that Parsons will no longer be part of season 8. The hoax article reads: "Sheldon Cooper won't be returning to "The Big Bang Theory" for its 8th season, after actor Jim Parsons has walked-off set and quit the show because of an on-set fight with co-star Johnny Galecki."

While the news of Parsons quitting has no truth to it, there's another rumor that's going around. According to Deadline, the actors of the show, including Parsons, Galecki, Kaley Cuoco, Simon Helberg and Kunal Nayyar "are still without a new contract." This is because the actors are asking for higher pay.

"The Big Bang Theory" will start filming on July 31 for its return on September 22. Hopefully, the contracts are good to go in two days or schedules might be pushed back.
