"Breaking Bad" reruns have ended in AMC, which means that its spin-off series, "Better Call Saul," is nearer. And what better way to usher in the coming of "BCS" than airing its longest teaser trailer just after the "Breaking Bad" marathon?
The "Better Call Saul" trailer comes in the form of a music video where Junior Brown plays his guitar and sings to the lyrics of Saul's stories. According to Independent UK, the blues rock song is similar to the song "A Boy Named Sue" by Johnny Cash.
The song has some hilarious lines, such as "Your husband disappeared in the most convenient way / Now your troubles are gone, the insurance will surely pay / You get to the bank but the cops say 'Whoa!' / Who you gonna dial when they lock you down low?"
There's also "Saul, Saul, you better call Saul / He'll fight for your rights, when your back's to the wall / He'll stick it to the man, justice for all," which sounds like an advertising spiel for the lawyer's services.
The song will be the opening theme for the series. It was written by Dave Porter, who also wrote the opening theme for "Breaking Bad." The lyrics are written by Peter Gould and Vince Gilligan, the same guys who worked on "Breaking Bad" as creator and lead writer. These guys will also run the show "Better Call Saul."
The opening theme certainly has a comedic appeal to it -- could it be foretelling of the show? Not likely. "Better Call Saul" will definitely be a drama TV series, although there isn't much footage to show the plot for the spin-off series in the new teaser trailer.
Meanwhile, Ben Odenkirk, the actor who plays Saul, shared something special about "BCS."
He told E! News, "Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould have brought what everyone loved about Breaking Bad to Better Call Saul, all those cliffhanger moments, the tension, it's all there and I think the fans are going to be super glad to have that back in their life."
"Better Call Saul" will arrive on TV screens on February 2015 on AMC and Netflix.
