'Battlefield 1' release date news update: latest trailer shows more of single-player campaign

Prior to its launch next month, publisher Electronic Arts has released a new game trailer for first-person shooter "Battlefield 1." The new footage highlights the revamped single-player mode of the title.

The new game trailer is already up on the official "Battlefield" website, and the footage is a take on the cinematic feel of the game. In addition, the new trailer also highlights how the single-player story in "Battlefield 1" goes through changes not only for the main character. Writes Jonas Elfving, Content Lead for EA said: "In previous Battlefield iterations we've experienced the story through the eyes of one main character, and it was very rare that the camera cut anywhere. But in Battlefield 1 we decided we wanted stronger characters instead of just telling players 'you are the character.'"

The new trailer also confirms some of the details that EA and developer DICE have teased previously, like how "Battlefield 1" will feel more as an exploration and open-world title than a first-person shooter. In an interview with Gamespot earlier this year, lead designer Danny Berlin has hinted that the upcoming game "will more accurately reflect Battlefield's open sandboxes," as well as introduce "much more choice and variety than [it's] done before."

Prior to the trailer release, "Battlefield 1" has been rated by the ESRB as "M" for Mature. This is not a surprise, particularly for the hardcore fans of the series, given that previous titles under the "Battlefield" franchise also received similar ratings.

"Battlefield 1" rolls out on Oct. 21 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. However, there is also an early access feature for EA Access and Origin Access members, where the game will be available as early as Oct. 13. Those who have pre-ordered the "Early Enlister" edition of the title will also get early access to "Battlefield 1" on Oct. 18.
