Awards seek Christians passionate about change

This week saw the launch of a competition to award promising Christian initiatives that will reach the vulnerable and transform communities.

The Mustard Seed Awards are looking for Christians with great ideas about how to make a difference in their communities.

The 'Dragon's Den' style awards are being run jointly by Premier Christian Media and the Christian Initiative Trust.

A top prize of £12,000 is up for grabs, as well as two smaller awards of £10,000 and £8,000.

The judges are looking for people with the passion and skill to change their communities for the better.

Projects will be judged according to their originality and innovation.

Peter Kerridge, chief of Premier Christian Media said, “These awards echo the very ethos of what Premier Christian Media is all about – to be a beacon of support and encouragement to Christians across the UK.

"This is a fantastic opportunity for a life changing idea to be recognised, and to have the talent behind that idea showcased. And even more exciting, these extraordinary people will have the opportunity of a lifetime to have their idea brought into being.”

Siân Edwards, Director of the Christian Initiative Trust, said, “We are looking for exceptional people who understand the power that Christians can have in effecting real change, in making things happen and in finding innovative solutions to the problems of the 21st century.

"We believe that great things can come from small beginnings and that this sort of money can achieve a great deal in the hands of ambitious and determined people. We want to celebrate the ingenuity and passion that Christians have for making the world a better place.”

Applications for the Mustard Seed Awards must be made via an application form. For more information log on to www.premier.org.uk/mustardseed. Award winners will be announced in the autumn.
