'Avatar 2' concept art from supposed Jon Landau Twitter a hoax

After a concept art depicting a female Na'vi teased fans about the development of the "Avatar 2" movie last week, more recent reports say the viral image made to appear to have been shared by film producer Jon Landau is actually fake.

Deadline revealed that the Twitter account where the concept art came from did not really belong to the producer and it has already been taken down by the microblogging site after receiving an appeal to suspend the account. The report also revealed that the said concept art was actually taken from the original "Avatar" film back in 2009.

Meanwhile, during an interview with NY Post back in September, actress Michelle Rodriguez denied the rumors that she will reprise her role as combat pilot Trudy Chacon in the "Avatar" sequels.

"They're bringing back a lot of other characters. I know [Sigourney Weaver's] coming back and the guy who played the bad guy, [Stephen Lang], is coming back," Rodriguez said. "But yeah, I'm not gonna be in it."

Talks about the sequel began even before the first film was released. Director James Cameron stated during that time that he would like to make two sequels if the original film would have box-office success. But in 2013, Cameron revealed that three new "Avatar" movies would be filmed in New Zealand in the second-half of 2014 and scheduled for release annually from December 2016 to 2018.

But early this year, the film director stated that the release dates of each "Avatar" sequel will be delayed for a year. It means that the first sequel will come out in December 2017. According to the film maker, the delay was caused by the complex writing process for the script.

The first "Avatar" film, starring Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Stephan Lang, and the late James Horner, earned $2.788 billion worldwide.
