'Attack on Titan' season 2 release date in 2016, to feature Levi Ackerman's death

As previously reported, the upcoming second season of the anime "Attack on Titan" has been pushed back and is scheduled to premiere sometime in 2016. This will allow the manga to be ahead by at least four story arcs. According to a report from Yibada ,one such story in season 2 will involve the death of Levi Ackerman.

According to the report, the first 34 chapters of the manga were adapted in the anime's first season and it is likely that the second season will adapt even more chapters given that the fifth to eighth story arcs in the manga are longer in comparison. If this holds true then the events in chapter 73 will be adapted in season 2.

The chapter will showcase Levi as he attempts to save the rest of the Shiganshina trio of his Survey Corps: Eren Jaeger, Mikasa Ackerman and Armin Arlert. However, the details surrounding his death are still kept a mystery at this point, although it is heavily hinted he will die in the hands of a Titan or even by the city's corrupted officials.

It is also pointed out that Levi's uncle, Kevin Ackerman, will try to eat Eren in order to gain the Coordinate capability. This power allows Eren to control other Titans when he is in his Titan form. It is possible that Levi will die saving Eren and the rest of the group from his own uncle.

Other spoilers listed down include Erwin Smith losing his arm and eventually leaving the Survey Corps, Reiner Braun and Bertolt Hoover unveiling their true Titan forms, and that Rod Reiss' daughter, Lenz, is the true successor to the Coordinate power. Erwin, alongside Eren, will also lead a revolution against the corrupted king.

No specific release date for season 2 has yet been posted, but given how each manga releases on a regular interval, it is likely the season will premiere by early summer 2016.
