Attack on Titan season 2 release date; 'No Regrets' DVD part 1, 2 to be bundled with manga volume 15, 16

The TV adaptation of Attack on Titan concluded in Japan in September last year, and the English-dubbed version of Adult Swim (Toonami) will end on Nov. 1. Now fans of the series are waiting for news on when Attack on Titan 2 will be ready for release.

It seems that it will not happen anytime soon, however. Early this year, Jōji Wada (a.k.a. George Wada), the head of production at Wit Studio, told The Nikkei that they will be working on a follow-up series but they are currently tackling a different but related project since the manga version is still ongoing.

"The manga comic the anime is based on is still ongoing, and all of us on the staff are following and loving it. Eventually, we definitely want to do a sequel," Rocket New 24 quotes Wada as saying. "This year, though, we've got our hands full producing an anime that will be bundled in a limited edition of the Attack on Titan manga, which tells a different sort of story than what we did in the TV series."

The company, according to the Anime News Network, is working on a two-part spin-off OVA entitled Attack on Titan: No Regrets, which will feature Levi and the events prior to the Attack on Titan.

The Attack on Titan manga, written and illustrated by Hajime Isayama, is serialized in the monthly publication, Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine, and is likewise collected and published in volumes, the most recent being volume 14 published in August.

Volume 15, scheduled to be released on Dec. 9, will be bundled with the first part of the anime prequel, while volume 16, to be published on April 9, 2015, will include the second part of the animated DVD.
