Asus has just unveiled its newest flagship, the ZenFone 3 series. But it seems that another iteration will come out soon, as speculations suggest that a more powerful ZenFone 3 Deluxe is on its way to select markets.
According to Phone Arena, a new ZenFone 3 Deluxe will make its way across regional Asian markets like the Philippines and India. Reportedly, the new ZenFone 3 iteration will carry the new Snapdragon 823 SoC from Qualcomm. It is unclear whether the processor will be the only component to get an upgrade, or if there will be changes on the specs sheet of the rumored device.
The Snapdragon 823 chipset is still within the family of the current-gen top-tier Snapdragon 820 processor. However, the SD 823 SoC is deemed to be a higher-level chipset since its four Kyro cores are clocked higher, at 3 GHz. This is a massive improvement over the four-core architecture of the SD 820, which is at 2.2 GHz. The SD 823 chipset is rumored to power next-gen flagships, including the still-unnamed latest Samsung Galaxy Note (which may come out as Note 6 or Note 7 dual edge), the rumored HTC Mini, the Mi Note 2, and most probably other flagship iterations scheduled to release by early next year.
Meanwhile, if the chipset is the only upgrade that the new ZenFone 3 Deluxe is supposed to get, it can be expected that the rest of the features and specs will be similar to the current ZenFone 3 Deluxe. This means that the upcoming iteration will also have a 6GB RAM as well as the 23MP Sony-sensor main camera on the back. Another expected feature is a 64GB onboard storage, expandable up to 128GB via a microSD slot.
