What makes a good father? Christian men naturally aspire to be good fathers to their children, but sometimes they tend to feel lost and nurse some self-doubt about how they are doing as dads.

For those who want to make sure that they are doing right by their kids, the inspirational website "All Pro Dads" has rounded up a list of things that make one a good father.

"While we will never be perfect this side of heaven, if you practice the following 10 things consistently you'll know you are on the right track to being a good father. You will know you are setting the example your children need," they say.

These 10 indicators of a good father are:

1. When you help your kids with their schoolwork.

2. When you take an interest in their hobbies.

3. When you show affection to your wife in front of them.

4. When you advocate that they speak to you and each other respectfully.

5. When you simply enjoy being with your children and they with you.

6. When your son or daughter comes running to you when they get hurt.

7. When your calendar is full of things to do with your children.

8. When you calmly and gently discipline your children without yelling or screaming.

9. When you tuck your children into bed at night and tell them: "I love you."

10. When you know their friends by their first name.

Fathers who were able to relate to most of the things listed above should be assured that they are doing okay, and should not be too hard on themselves. For those who feel lacking, All Pro Dads says it's okay to get a little help and advice when they need it.

"The wonderful thing about advice is that it often comes from those who have made mistakes and are willing to help others avoid the same pitfalls," they say. "Being a father isn't easy, but it is one of the most important and fulfilling jobs on the planet."
