Fans expected Apple to come out with a refreshed Apple Watch at its March launch event. However, the event came and went without the Cupertino-based company announcing a new wearable. Speculations suggest that the Apple Watch will more likely be released alongside the iPhone 7.

According to analyst and reputable Apple soothsayer Ming-Chi Kuo, it is more likely that Apple will introduce the Apple Watch 2 toward the end of the year, since the company will reportedly launch the wearable with major upgrades in both its software and hardware components. Meanwhile, the KGI Securities analyst also underscored that Apple may even eschew the second-gen wearable tag. Instead, since the new watch will be an upgraded version of the original, it will be launched as the Apple Watch S.

Meanwhile, although Apple has yet to provide details on the next Apple Watch outing, observers and fans are already speculating on what the upgrades will be. Wareable reports that one of the most requested changes for the next-gen Apple Watch is a robust battery life. As to how Apple will manage this new feature, the industry follower quoted Daniel Matte, head of research at Canalys: "It would be great if Apple could utilise Samsung Foundry's 14FF process to manufacture the chipsets in the Apple Watch 2."

Matte added that Apple is familiar with how this will work. The observer stated, "It's already using them in the iPhone, and it would provide major benefits for energy efficiency, which would impact performance and battery life."

Other purported new features and specs of the Apple Watch 2 include more sensitive and accurate health sensors, a brighter and clearer display, and major updates in its design.

Meanwhile, it is expected that Apple will have a major launch in September, and it is said that the new Apple Watch will be one of the products to be revealed.
