Since the rumored Apple Watch 2 is the next wearable flagship from Apple, it is expected that the new smart watch will have huge improvements over the original. Speculations suggest that the next wearable will have a longer battery life because of a new screen technology.

According to Wareable, reports out of Taiwan revealed that Apple will swap the current-gen specs of the Apple Watch for a new microLED technology for the Apple Watch 2. Allegedly, the new microLED screens will use less power than the current OLED setup. It has has a slimmer profile than the current display on the Apple wearable. This means that the Apple Watch 2 will have a longer battery life and may even sport a slimmer and thinner body because of the new technology.

However, the industry follower stated that the new technology, while bringing new improvements to the next Apple wearable, comes at a price. This means that possibly the price range of the Apple Watch 2 will be higher than the already-steep prices of the original Apple Watch.

Meanwhile, aside from new screens, the Apple Watch 2 is also rumored to be an all-around active lifestyle smartwatch this time. Speculations suggest that one of the apps in the Apple Watch 2, the Workout app, will be able to track swimming activities. This means that the next Apple Watch 2 is possibly waterproofed, with diving and swimming ratings. The current-gen Apple Watch, while splash and water-resistant, does not have a full waterproofing rating.

There is also a rumored chipset upgrade, with more tweaks to its process and performance. This will reportedly make the Apple Watch 2 load apps and features faster, and will make performance of the new health-based apps above-average in terms of accuracy and speed.

While Apple has yet to confirm details for the Apple Watch 2, it is expected to come out later this year, possibly with the iPhone 7.
