The new version of the current iOS 9 has gone live. The new iOS 9.3.1 introduces a number of improvements and tweaks for Apple mobile devices, and the Cupertino-based company also included a specific fix for a known issue.
According to 9to5Mac, the new 9.3.1 version incorporates the bug fix for a link-related issue. Prior to the update, owners of iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch reported apps stop working – and some as extreme as OS crashes – when tapping links on the devices.
The 9.3.1 version is also a specific update for iPad 2 owners. Previously, there were reports that some models have completely shut down and were bricked when users updated to the base iOS 9.3 version. The industry follower said that Apple also incorporated specific tweaks and improvements for the tablet lineup iteration to fix the issue.
MacRumors said that Apple opted to release the 9.3.1 version immediately after reports of issues with the base 9.3 version were reported. The Cupertino-based company has not shed light on what caused the initial bugs in iOS 9.3, but the industry observer surmised that since it is links-related, it may have something to do with shared login credentials, particularly a conflict with the Universal Links and Shared Web Credentails daemon for the iOS. This made tapping the links – particularly useful shortcuts in highlighted apps like Safari, Chrome, and others – cause the apps to freeze and crash the system.
Meanwhile, since Apple already made the iOS 9.3.1 official, some fans are now asking if there is a possibility of a jailbreak version soon. Based on TaiG9.com, the different development teams are still working on a jailbreak beta. However, since the 9.3.1 is already a full version, there is a high possibility that teams like TaiG and PanGu are already on their way to releasing a stable jailbreak based on the full iOS 9.3.1 build.
