Android Nougat release date: Google Nexus 6, Nexus 9 to get new platform 'in the coming weeks'

Google has yet to fully roll out its new Android Nougat platform to its devices. For the schedule, the one next in line to get the new version is the Nexus 6 and the Nexus 9 LTE.

According to Android Police, most fans are worried that the Nexus 6 is not one of the devices capable of running Android Nougat since the device is not on the list of Nexus iterations that will get the new platform. It turns out that Google has released an incomplete upgrade list. The industry follower reached out to Google, and the tech giant promised that the Nexus 6 and the Nexus 9 LTE will be getting Android Nougat 7.0 "in the coming weeks." The industry observer added that while there is no definitive cause for the delay, it seems likely that Google is still on track in ironing out kinks and glitches in the new platform. There are rumors claiming that although the tech giant has already announced a full version, the consumer platform is still only some steps above the latest developer preview, so there are still bugs and issues left on the 7.0 version.

While Google has not pegged a specific rollout schedule for its Android Nougat update, it can be expected that the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 LTE will get Android Nougat in an early as two weeks. Speculations suggest that while most Nexus and non-Nexus devices are waiting for the original Android Nougat platform, Google is already readying an Android Nougat 7.1 version. Reports indicate that Google is readying its new Pixel and Pixel XL flagships as Android Nougat platform iterations, and will launch the new devices as early as next month already carrying Android 7.1.

Since speculations suggest that Android 7.1 may come out as early as next month, it seems likely that the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 LTE will get their Android 7.0 platforms by late September or early October. Meanwhile, should Android Nougat 7.1 come out early, it remains to be seen if third-party Android-run devices will get the new platform straight-away or if tech makers and mobile carriers will still base their user platforms on Android 7.0.
