OnePlus has recently released its step-up flagship, the OnePlus 3T. Those who expected it to come out with a new platform were disappointed though, as the new release launched with Android Marshmallow onboard. However, OnePlus is quick to announce that the new flagship will receive the Android N update next month.

According to Android Authority, OnePlus itself confirmed the information. This means that OnePlus 3T users can expect the Android Nougat 7.0 platform to come to their devices by the end of the year. The schedule has been revealed despite reports that the OnePlus 3T will not be included in the beta program rollout for OnePlus devices this month.

Meanwhile, since the beta program is for the original OnePlus 3 flagship, OnePlus also confirms that the lineup will be included in the full version rollout next month.

With the schedule for the current-gen flagship already confirmed, it is expected that working down the list means that OnePlus 2 will get Android Nougat 7.0 early next year.

The OnePlus confirmation put to rest the rumors that updates will only focus on the new OnePlus 3T. Previously, it was revealed that the China-based tech startup plans to fully market the step-up variant, and has even halted OnePlus 3 sales in Europe and the U.S. This led to speculations that with the new step-up version already out, the tech maker will focus its updates only for the OnePlus 3T. There are rumors that the OnePlus 3 production itself is already discontinued.

With the OnePlus 3T, some are saying that this spells a shift in the OnePlus flagship cycle, with a shorter six-month long interval between releases. This is interesting to note since most flagships have at least a year-long cycle before coming out with lineup installments. It is expected that the next flagship follow-up, the OnePlus 4, will come out in the middle of 2017.
