Android 7.0 Nougat release date: 5 hidden features in the new Android OS

Google has started with the full version release of its new platform, Android Nougat 7.0. While most devices have yet to receive the update, some of the hidden features from the previews also made the final cut. As with previous versions, these hidden features can also be used by both power users and casual Android fans.

Prioritize notifications

In the final version of Android Nougat, users can now prioritize their notifications, letting important details to be on top of the notification list. To do this, users may swipe the notification until a Gear icon appears. Tapping the icon opens an Importance tab, and users can adjust the priority level of the app. There are six levels, with 0 blocking all notifications from the app appearing on-screen, and level 5 always allowing the notification a full-screen interruption, and appearing on top of the notifications list.

Data saver option

Google has integrated a new Data Saver option in Android Nougat. With the feature turned on, it will restrict the online apps that uses data to connect. It limits the apps from sending or receiving data while in the background. While the new feature doesn't completely turn off data connection, it will help users in monitoring their usage, especially those who have limited data plans.

System UI Tuner

Similar to how it was set up in Marshmallow, the System UI Tuner is also a hidden feature in Android Nougat. Holding down the Settings icon in the Quick Settings window will activate the feature. In the System UI Tuner, users have more options to customize and tweak Nougat features and apps.

Camera quick launch

For devices without a dedicated camera button, Google has now featured a shortcut in Android Nougat. In Settings > Display, there is a new option to enable quick launching the camera when double pressing the standby button.

Easter egg game

The feature is also hidden in Marshmallow, and the way to access it remains the same. In Android Nougat, heading into Settings > About Phone and tapping the Android Version repeatedly will enable the "N" logo. Pressing the logo launches the Easter egg game.
