Android Nougat 7.0 release date update causes issue for Nexus 5X?

Google has started rolling out the new Android Nougat platform. However, it seems the update is still full of glitches, as one issue is found out for the Nougat 7.0 update on the Nexus 5X.

In the Google forums, Nexus 5X users have aired issues ranging from boot loops to factory resets on their devices, when they tried to update the flagship to Android Nougat 7.0. One owner stated on the thread: "Wiped System Cache partition and did factory data reset. It turns off or restarts frequently with no consistent pattern. It does not even turn on most of the times when it's off."

Though it remains unclear what caused the issue, Google has apparently acknowledged the glitch and advised Nexus 5X owners to get help from their place of purchase. Though indirectly, this hints that there is no workaround on the issue on the user end, and a Nexus 5X owner that is affected by the issue has no option but to use the warranty and have the device replaced. In the same forums, a supposed Google employee wrote, "If you purchased your phone directly from Project Fi, call 1-844-Talk-2-Fi for information about refunds, exchanges, or repairs."

For those who may have purchased the Nexus 5X from a third-party retailer, there is a chance of using a manufacturer warranty. The employee added, "If you didn't purchase your Nexus 5X on the Google Store, visit the LG website at www.lg.com."

Google has yet to come out with an explanation as to what caused the issue, and, as of writing, only the Nexus 5X seems to suffer from the glitch. The tech maker has already started rolling out its Android Nougat update to other Nexus iterations prior to the Nexus 5X, and so far, has not encountered the issue. Some of the confirmed Nexus lineups that will get the new version include the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 LTE.
