Android Nougat 7.0 release date, specs news 2016: Huawei Mate 8 to receive Android N soon?

It is already expected that one of the flagships that will get the Android Nougat update is the HTC Mate 8. Speculations suggest that the update is ready to roll out, as supposed leaks of a Mate 8 running the new platform have been seen online.

Supposedly, screenshots of an EMUI 5.0 running Android Nougat 7.0 on the Huawei Mate 8 have been making their rounds. According to speculations, the images have come from the Huawei servers, so it is positive that the images are authentic. While it is already expected that the update will roll out for the Mate 8, seeing the screenshots support the rumors that Huawei is readying the update release soon.

Previously, Huawei has mentioned that it will be releasing the Android Nougat 7.0 platform to its flagship devices before the year ends. Meanwhile, the new update for the Mate 8 comes right after supposed leaks for an Android Nougat 7.0 release for the Huawei P9. Since the P9 is the current-gen flagship in the lineup, it is likely that Huawei will be releasing the update to the P9 first, and then will immediately roll it out to the Mate 8.

The Android Nougat 7.0 update will be the first major platform release for the Huawei Mate 8. The previous-gen flagship was released late last year carrying Android Marshmallow 6.0 right out of the box.

Meanwhile, a supposed Android Nougat 7.0 update file for the Huawei Mate 8 is already available in XDA Developers. Supposedly, the new build is the one where the screenshots have been taken from, meaning that the version build is also from Huawei servers. However, it is unclear if the uploaded file is a stocked, leaked official update file from Huawei, or a tweaked, custom cooked ROM. Nonetheless, the file is meant for tech-savvy Huawei Mate 8 owners since it involves manual flashing.
