After a series of delays, Google has jump-started its Android Nougat 7.0 update. The latest to receive the update is the Nexus 9 LTE tablet.

The OTA notifications for the Android Nougat 7.0 are now rolling out for Nexus 9 LTE users. Meanwhile, the factory images are also already put up on the Google Developer pages. This is for users who have yet to receive the OTA notification and want to make a manual update. However, it should be noted that a manual update is applicable for tech-savvy users who want to further customize the Android Nougat 7.0 update for the Nexus 9 LTE.

This has been the second rollout of the Android Nougat 7.0 update for the device. Previously, Nexus 9 LTE users who are already enrolled in the Android Beta program has received prior builds of the Nougat 7.0 version. However, when Google released its full list of update-compatible lineups, the Nexus 9 LTE, along with the Nexus 6, was not included. Google only said that the update will re-start for the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 LTE "in the coming weeks."

While Google has not confirmed what caused the delay, speculations suggest continuous battery drain as one of the issues with the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 LTE updates. With the OTA notifications rolling out once again, it is expected that the glitch has been addressed.

With the new platform update, Android Nougat 7.0 in the Nexus 9 LTE brings the build number to NRD90R. In addition to version update, the rollout also includes the Android security patch for the month of September — the security level and post update shows a date of Sept. 6. Interestingly, it is unclear why Google has posted a previous month's security update with the rollout. Recently, the same update was released for the Nexus 6, but the Nougat update for the device brought along a more recent security patch dated Oct. 5.
