Android Nougat 7.0 Motorola rollout news: platform rolling out to Moto Z, Moto G in Q4 2016

The Moto Z series is listed as the first lineup to receive Motorola's Android Nougat update. Motorola U.S.

As with any iteration lineups, Motorola has confirmed that it will start the Android Nougat 7.0 update to its recent series releases.

According to the announcement posted on the official Motorola blog, the Android Nougat update will start in Q4 this year. The first two iterations to receive the update notification are the current-gen Moto Z flagship and the fourth-gen Moto G, also known as Moto G4 in some regions.

Meanwhile, although Motorola has already confirmed the release list, it is unclear if the announcement has named the Moto Z and Moto G4 iterations or the whole lineup. If it will be the former, then the base models of the new release lineups are the first to get the Android Nougat 7.0 update. On the other hand, if Motorola has named the two tags as full lineups, then a simultaneous update is likely to occur. This means that aside from the Moto Z base model, the Android Nougat 7.0 platform will also come out soon on the Moto Z Play, Moto Z Force, and their Droid counterparts. For the Moto G 4th-gen, an Android Nougat update will also roll out on the Moto G4 Plus and the Moto G4 Play.

Should the update start early in the quarter, then fans can also expect the Android Nougat to make it to the previous-generation Moto X lineup before the year ends. The series is also included in the list of Nougat-compatible devices. However, since the previous two lineups offer quite a number of iterations, the staggered release of the Moto X Nougat update is expected to continue up to the early months next year.

Aside from the base model of the lineup, the Android 7.0 update is also confirmed to come out to the whole Moto X series. This means that aside from the Moto X Style base model (also known as the Moto X Pure Edition), the update will also roll out for the Moto X Play and Moto X Force.
