Although Google is ready to release the full version of its new Android N platform, most devices have yet to receive the current Android Marshmallow update. The latest to roll out the version is Asus, for the ZenFone Zoom and ZenFone Selfie models.

In update notes released by Asus for the ZenFone Zoom and the ZenFone Selfie, the staggered releases have begun to roll out for the devices, although it will still take some time before all variants are updated to Android M. With the current platform, both ZenFone devices can now check out the new features included in Android M, such as the new Doze mode and Google Now on Tap. Meanwhile, there are also device-specific features that Asus included in their version of Android M.

Both the ZenFone Zoom and the ZenFone Selfie now has the synced apps from Google, such as Google Calendar, Google Messenger, and the integrated social media apps like Facebook, FB Messenger, and Instagram. The previous Asus-centric apps were also removed and replaced with their Google counterparts.

Meanwhile, the download notes also advise users to back up data first before attempting to update, as Android M is not supporting the App2SD feature in previous versions. This means that it will no longer save data on the expandable storage, so every data and information on the card will be wiped out with the update. In addition, the Multi-User and SnapView features will not be supported in the new platform.

With the ZenFone Zoom and ZenFone Selfie getting Android M, Asus still has to roll out the update to other variants. The tech manufacturer has started the update with the ZenFone 2. However, the previous lineup is an extensive one, with a number of variants coming out only with Android Lollipop right out of their boxes.
