Android 7.0 Nougat release date, updates: Samsung not expected to push out the new platform to Galaxy Note 7

With Samsung readying its Android Nougat update, speculations suggest that the most recent flagship to receive the new platform is the Galaxy S7, as the Galaxy Note 7 will remain on Android Marshmallow.

According to Neurogadget, it is highly unlikely that Samsung will extend the new Android Nougat platform to the Galaxy Note 7. The flagship has already been discontinued. Meanwhile, the South Korea-based tech giant has issued at least two recalls for the Galaxy Note 7. Third-party retailers and mobile carriers are also urging users to turn in their devices.

With this, the industry follower believes that that Galaxy Note 7 is as good as dropped from the Samsung roster. This means that the tech giant is likely to concentrate on the Galaxy S7, at least until the Galaxy S8 comes out early next year. As for updates, the Android Nougat 7.0 platform is likely to arrive for the Galaxy S7 first, with Samsung working down the line, including the new Note's predecessor, the Galaxy Note 5.

Although Samsung has yet to come out with specific release dates for its Nougat update, the company has already hinted that it will come out with the notifications soon. Rumor has it that a Samsung Android Nougat beta program has already been started. A beta version for the Galaxy Note 5 has reportedly made its way to beta testers in South Korea and China. With the beta testing already in progress, it is suggested that Samsung will roll out the Android Nougat 7.0 update starting this fall.

In addition, an Android Nougat 7.0 update is already expected around this time, given that Google is already working on the platform update, the Android 7.1 Nougat.

Aside from the Galaxy Note 5 and the already-guaranteed Galaxy S7, Samsung is also expected to roll out Android Nougat 7.0 to the Galaxy S6 lineup like the S6 Edge and S6 Edge Plus. It is still unclear if previous flagships down from the Galaxy S6 will receive the update.
