Android 6.0 Marshmallow update: Sony Xperia Z5 experiences issues after Marshmallow update

Sony Mobile has already rolled out its Marshmallow updates to its current-gen flagships. However, it seems that even a full version update of the latest Android platform still has issues, particularly the update for the Xperia Z5.

According to Tech Times, some users took to online forums to air issues that they have encountered after updating to the latest Android Marshmallow version. Most of the issues encountered by Xperia Z5 owners after the Android 6.0 update have something to do with Google Play Store. Either the app keeps crashing after it has opened, or the Play Store "Google Play Store has stopped" pop-up keeps appearing even if the app hasn't been used by the owner.

The industry follower said that Sony Mobile has already been made aware of the problem, but a solution has yet to be offered. However, the tech giant advised some Xperia Z5 owners who got in touch with Customer Support to do a factory reset as a workaround. This option seems to be a temporary solution, though, as some users still report that the issue persists even after wiping the phone clean and starting the Xperia Z5 in its factory settings.

The issue seems to also be pointed out with the global release version of the Android 6.0 update for the Xperia Z5. In Canada, Sony Mobile has no choice but to halt its roll-out of the Android Marshmallow update. According to the tweet, the release of the update will start once again when the issue has been solved, and Sony Mobile "will advise once it's been re-issued."

Meanwhile, Xperia Blog stated that Sony Mobile has offered another workaround for the issue. Reportedly, aside from doing a factory reset, users of Xperia Z5 and other Xperia devices who experience the same concern can clear the data of the Google Play Store first and then turn off Location Services on their devices.
