The horror television series, "American Horror Story: Cult" is well underway in its seventh season. With episode 7 just out, titled "Valerie Solanas Died for Your Sins: Scumbag," some critics are stating that this season is shaping up to be one of the best. However, given the thickening plot of the series so far, has it backed itself in a corner? Or is it setting itself up for a climactic ending?

In a report by Vanity Fair, episode 7 could possibly have caused the series to have either a major plot hole, or a clue on what fans can expect moving forward in the series. Kai, played by Evan Peters, has proven to be puppeteering the entire events leading up to the episode. Valerie Solanas, played by Lena Dunham, was introduced in the episode. She was inspired by a real person of the same name, who is known for nearly killing famous artist Andy Warhol.

Things get seemingly confusing when the show ties the plotlines of Valerie with the Zodiac Killer. According to Variety, the story of "American Horror Story" so far is "playing loosely" as they attempt to tie in the relationship between Valerie Solanas and the Zodiac Killer. But in season 5 of the show, the Zodiac Killer had already been established to be a character that worked alone. So, it is not very plausible for him to be working with Valerie in the first place.

Valerie is also one of the main founders of the cult named "Society for Cutting Up Men" – SCUM for short. The manifesto of SCUM is to eliminate all of the men in the world. As Beverly Hope, played by Adina Porter, fortuitously crossed paths with Bebe Babbit, played by Frances Conroy, Beverly takes it upon herself to start an all-female cult that is pursuant on upholding the manifesto of SCUM.

In a review by IGN, the flashbacks with Dunham felt a bit too much and rather unnecessary. Although Dunham's performance as Valerie was applauded for being quite effective, the regularity of the flashbacks was described to be "overly invested."

"American Horror Story: Cult" episode 8 is scheduled to be released on Oct. 24, at 10 p.m. EDT on FX.
