Actress and producer Roma Downey knows that the secret to true contentment and happiness is to be grateful for everything that one already has, and never to dwell on the achievements made by other people.

During an episode of "Breaking Bread With Brooke Burke," where Downey and her husband Mark Burnett had dinner with their good friends David and Brooke Charvet, she revealed that despite all of the successes she has attained in life, she refuses to compare herself with other people.

"If you live your life comparing yourself to other people, there's always going to be somebody that has something that you think you would be happier with if you had it," Downey explained. "If you compare yourself to somebody that you think you have more than them you risk being prideful. I think if you live your life just being grateful for what you've got, gratitude is the key to happiness."

Her husband agreed. During that special dinner, he praised the Lord for blessing them with good health and even better friends. "Heavenly Father, we are so grateful for our friendship, for the food, for our children and their health. We're eternally grateful and recognise how lucky we are in our lives. In Your name, amen," Burnett prayed.

Downey and Burnett are the creative duo behind the popular television series "The Bible" and its follow-up "A.D. The Bible Continues." They have also dabbled in faith-based films such as "Little Boy" and "Woodlawn."

Even though "A.D. The Bible Continues" did not fare as well as its predecessor, Downey is nonetheless proud of the work they have put into the series.

"'A.D.' captures the remarkable story of the Apostles after the crucifixion, an event that forever changed the course of human history. 'A.D.' is about extraordinary faith in the face of unimaginable adversity and we are thrilled to experience the journey with you once again," Downey said in a video for The Christian Post.
