Abandoned Dog 'Boo' Waits a Month for His Owners to Return; Then Kind Stranger Steps in

Dogs are definitely some of the most loyal creatures on earth. When a devoted pit bull was left behind together with the unwanted belongings of his owners, he waited for them patiently for a month before being swamped with adoption offers.

The dog and his former family came from Detroit. The pit bull did not budge from his old curb for a month — sleeping on the family's former mattress and cozying up to old trash bins and boxes. He remained put until Dustin Oliver, founder of Detroit Youth and Dog Rescue, got a tip about the canine.

A woman named Liz Marie, a neighbour who had been feeding the abandoned dog, posted on Facebook that she had contacted several rescue groups about the pup but no one responded save for Oliver.

"So, I walked out of the house a couple minutes later and drove to him," Oliver told The Huffington Post. "He was being as loyal as a dog always is. That could've been the mattress he slept on with his owner. That smell was probably still there."

Oliver named the dog Boo, who refused to budge from the mattress when Oliver first approached him. So Oliver took his time, letting the abandoned dog learn how to trust humans again after being left behind by the people he loved.

Oliver stayed with him until 1 a.m. just talking to the dog and leaving the curb only to get them both food. After a few hours, Oliver returned and Boo finally agreed to let Oliver put a leash around his neck.

Oliver took Boo to the veterinarian's office, where they found out that the pit bull had heart worm. Aside from that, Oliver is in great physical shape. "He's awesome," Oliver gushed. "He's 100 percent pit bull; he's forgiving, loving, trusting. His whole lovable personality has come out."

Oliver is currently on the lookout for Boo's next family. With so many offers coming in left and right, Oliver said he wants to find a loving family who lives in Detroit.
