3 ways Christian husbands can help their wives fulfill their God-given call

We husbands are in the best position to help our wives fulfill their God-given calling. We have been entrusted with the sacred duty of loving, serving, leading, protecting, providing for, and cherishing our wives. That said, we've been given this very special role to play in their obedience to God.

Have you ever wondered how you can help your wife fulfill God's will for her? If you are, then I've got something to share to you. Here are a few ways Christian husbands can help their wives fulfill their God-given calling.

1) Be her number one supporter

With all the discouragements, challenges, stress, and problems that our wives face, we shouldn't be an additional burden to them. Instead, we should desire to support them and help them lift their load.

A husband's kind words mean so much to his wife. When a husband speaks kind and encouraging words, especially with a loving and kind tone, his wife receives it well and is encouraged.

Ephesians 5:26 tells us that Christ sanctifies and cleanses the church "with the washing of water by the word." He speaks God's truth to us with no holding back. And this truth sets us free to live the life God wants for us.

In the same way, let honest, loving, and kind communication be the one you have with your wife. Believe in God's call for her, and show it with your words and actions.

2) Serve her

We must desire to serve our wives in every way possible. It will be challenging, but it's worth it! Think of ways to serve your wife:

  • Work hard to earn enough for you to save
  • Wake up early to prepare a healthy breakfast (or any meal) for her
  • Take care of the kids when she has something to do
  • Do some household chores, especially on your days off
  • Give her a massage at the end of a busy day
  • Do the groceries with her and offer to carry the shopping basket
  • Take out the trash without being told

These are but a few simple things you can do. Remember that the motive is to lessen her load and allow her to focus on her relationship with God. As a bonus, when you treat her right, she'll treat you better, too.

3) Be the spiritual leader at home

Guys, don't leave the prayer time to your wives. Take charge of the spiritual atmosphere at home. The Bible says that we are the head of our wives, and our head is Christ (see Ephesians 5:23).

Establish the family altar. Pray for and pray with your wife and your kids. Read the Bible together. Go to church together. Let her participate in the women's prayer group meetings. Allow her to grow in the word of God and exercise her gifts without feeling insecure or inferior if she manifests gifts. Intercede for her at all times.

Remember, we are the partners of our respective wives, and no other human is given this privilege. Let's take the stand to do what we were meant to do.

"Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself." (Ephesians 5:25-28)

Soho is not exempt from freedom of speech and Christian expression. And Christians do not lose their fundamental freedoms when they cross an invisible boundary into a neighbourhood associated with a different worldview. The streets of London belong to all of us, writes Andrea Williams.
