3 Tips on How to Become a More Confident You

Some people struggle with confidence issues thinking they are no better than their peers. But life coach and motivational speaker Lukas Schwekendiek says confidence is all just a state of mind.

"Confidence is something internal, not something external, meaning that you can achieve it whenever you want to just by thinking about the world in a different way," he wrote for the Huffington Post.

Schwekendiek then shared three things that people need to realise about confidence.

The first is that everyone feels nervous, even though they don't show it. "Ask all actors, athletes and speakers and you will find that they all still get nervous in interviews, talking to new people and when they have to perform their best," he said.

The only difference, according to Schwekendiek, is that these people have done these kinds of things for so long that they have gotten good at it and have developed some confidence.

Next, Schwekendiek said nobody is better or worse than others. It's true some might be more skilled in certain fields, might be more knowledgeable in certain topics, are more attractive or more sociable, but it has absolutely nothing to do with a person's true worth.

"You have the same potential as the most influential people of all time. You can change the world in a way no one else can. In that way, you are very unique," he said. "You can inspire people in a way no one else can, can think of thoughts no one else can, and you can do things no one else can. But you know what, so can everybody else."

Lastly, Schwekendiek hopes people know that whether a person is confident or not, nothing bad will happen. People often jump to the wrong conclusions, thinking the worst case scenario will happen, so they hold themselves back. But in the end, nothing that bad ever truly happens.

"That being said, there is just as good of a chance that something amazing will occur! What is the best case scenario? When you think about these things you will have nothing to be afraid of anymore. That makes you free enough to be yourself and be confident in that!" he said.
