2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited release date: upcoming Wrangler does have some flaws

2016 Jeep Wrangler jeep.com

When you first take a look at the 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, you are blown away by the sheer style. The exterior has been slightly redesigned, yes. The grille has been minutely tweaked, and the headlights are now based on LED technology. The lights also have a bi-xenon option that assists in lighting up roads in the dark. Rumors also suggest that the SUV has full-metal doors, skid plates, and a larger gas tank.

What, then, are the cons? Releasedatesnewcars.com reveals that the vehicle didn't score so well on the crash test. The convertible option is reported to be inconvenient, and riding on highways in the new Wrangler can get a bit busy, meaning that you'll have to constantly adjust the steering wheel so you can keep the vehicle in the lane. Releasedatesautomobiles.com lists more downsides to the new model, including its poorly insulated interiors that fail to shut out noises, and its lack of advanced safety technologies.

If this jeep has so many things working against it, then where does it win? The engine, for one thing, gives the Wrangler a powerful advantage. The 3.6 liter V6 model has output figures corresponding to 285 hp and 260 lb ft of torque. The vehicle comes with an all-wheel drive system, and a towing capacity of 3,500 pounds. But most of all, it is believed to be a fun-to-drive jeep that reflects the American spirit of freedom.

In a stroke of luck, the SUV currently has no direct competition. The Nissan Xterra and the Toyota FJ played the roles of strong rivals until they were taken off the market. The model is expected to release sometime in early 2017, although conflicting reports point to a release in the latter half of next year. Until an official announcement is made, we'll have to keep the guessing game on.
