Early speculations say that BMW will be unveiling one of its 2017 lineups later this year. However, new reports suggest that the 2017 BMW 5 Series will debut early next year instead.

According to ABP Live, previous rumors placed BMW to be showcasing the new, seventh-generation 5 Series iteration later this year, most likely at the 2016 Paris Motor Show scheduled in September. However, the car maker has recently confirmed that instead of the rumored 5 Series, the featured highlight for the trade event is the BMW X2.

This move by BMW places credence on an exclusive that instead of a late 2016 announcement, the new 5-Series iteration will debut at the Detroit Motor Show instead, which is scheduled in January next year. In a report by BMW Blog, the industry follower mentioned that aside from the early 2017 announcement, there will be early press launches for the new lineup, with expected images for the new 5 Series coming out online in the coming weeks, and first-impressions test runs by autumn. The observer also agrees that since BMW has already confirmed an X2 announcement later this year, it makes sense to make use of another international auto show for a major showroom reveal.

The new G30 5 Series from BMW has been improved and changed, based on recent supposed specs sheet for the lineup. The new series makes use of CLAR, where the body size for the sedan has been enlarged and at the same time curbing the weight off for up to 100 kilograms.

Debuting as the F10 BMW 5 series back in 2011, the 5th-gen lineups will now include a saloon, the BMW G30; an estate, the BMW G31; and a hatchback-GT, the BMW G32. In addition, speculations suggest that since the new series will share its underpinnings with the new BMW 7-Series lineup, there is also a high chance that a hybrid G30 is also coming out.
