With the Android N developer preview already out, it seems that Google will be launching a new platform soon and will pre-install it in new Nexus products as launching devices. Speculations suggest that the 2016 tablets may be named the Nexus 7X and 8P.

According to GreenBot, while Google has yet to confirm what it will call its upcoming Nexus devices, there is a good chance that the company will be repeating what it did with the Nexus 5 and Nexus 6. This means that fans may be looking forward to a Nexus 7X and Nexus 8P.

The industry follower stated that the two will be Google's refreshed tablet iterations. Much like the Nexus 5X, the Nexus 7X will serve as the budget-friendly iteration, a refreshed take on the Nexus 7 lineup. Meanwhile, there will also be a top-tier version of the new Nexus tablet, the Nexus 8P, which will be a direct competitor for other flagships, particularly Apple's iPad and Samsung's Galaxy Tab series.

For the entry-level 2016 Nexus 7X, speculations say that a Snapdragon 808 chipset with at least 2 GB of RAM is enough to maintain above-average performance for budget-restricted fans. In design, it is said that the new entry-level Nexus tablet will serve as a "bigger" version of the Nexus 5X, featuring the same polycarbonate body. As for its premium counterpart, top-tier specs such as a Snapdragon 820, 4 GB of RAM and massive internal storage may line up the Nexus 8P as a performance-focused professional-level tablet.

However, it should be said that Google has yet to confirm if indeed two Nexus tablets will be coming out. If this is proven true, it complements the rumors that aside from a Nexus 7 reboot, the company is thinking of having two new smartphone additions to the Nexus family, with HTC designated as their manufacturer.
