Teenager Jasmine crowned Radio Disney's Next Big Thing

|PIC1|Nashville-based singer/songwriter Jasmine has been named Radio Disney’s Next Big Thing after a nearly three month nationwide competition.

As winner of Radio Disney’s NBT, Jasmine’s single, a pop song entitled "Make A Movie", will be featured in the upcoming Disney Channel Original Movie "StarStruck" and on the "StarStruck" soundtrack.

Additionally, a second single by Jasmine (song TBD) will be featured on the Walt Disney Records' Radio Disney Jams 12 CD, and she will be the opening concert act for worldwide sensation Justin Bieber at Radio Disney concerts in Los Angeles and Celebration, Florida.

In response to the win, Jasmine said on Radio Disney, “I'm shaking and crying and screaming at the same time…I feel so blessed and honoured.”

Jasmine’s victory celebration began when she joined Ernie D in-studio for an acoustic performance of "Make a Movie" and "Nothing Left to Say" Radio Disney earlier in the month.

The performances also featured on RadioDisney.com. Later that evening she took to the stage at Radio Disney’s concert at Citadel Outlets in Los Angeles, opening for NBT Season One artists and recently signed Hollywood Records recording artists Allstar Weekend and Island Def Jam star Justin Bieber.

To round out her first week as Radio Disney's NBT winner, Jasmine again opened for Bieber at a Radio Disney Orlando concert at Celebration Town Center's "Now Snowing Nightly" event on December 19.

Kelly Edwards, Director of Music, Radio Disney said, "Jasmine is an incredibly talented singer/songwriter whose style truly represents the Radio Disney brand." She added, "Jasmine has immediately connected with our listeners and the Disney Channel audience, and we are thrilled to have her represent Radio Disney as our NBT."

The recurring multi-platform programming feature known as Radio Disney NBT puts the spotlight on young recording artists and provides them with national broadcast and online exposure.

Since the launch of its second season in September, Radio Disney’s NBT introduced five unsigned acts - Jasmine, Gabi Wilson, Josh Golden, Kropp Circle and Cymphonique - and invited its kid and family audience to look, listen and vote online or via text for their favorite new artist.

Jasmine released her debut CD on iShine Records and 3 am Sound Productions with Nashville based Bema Media, distributed in CBA partnership with Provident-Integrity Distribution, this past spring titled The Next Me. She was also among the performers on the iShine Live tour.
