'Vikings' season 4 cast: Toronto Blue Jays' Josh Donaldson teases appearance

MLB superstar Josh Donaldson is taking a break from the baseball field to hang out with Ragnar and the troop in "Vikings" season 4. The two-time All-Star will be appearing in the History Channel series as a skilled Viking warrior named Hoskuld.

The press release for his appearance does not give much away on what his character will be up to in the series. His acting stint, however, is already complete, as teased personally by the Toronto Blue Jays infielder on Twitter.

Donaldson shared photos he took on the set of "Vikings" season 4, where he showed off his Viking look and costume. There was also a snap where he posed next to co-star and fellow Canadian Alexander Ludwig, who stars in the series as Ragnar's son Bjorn.

The pro baseball player is a big fan of the series (hence his new Ragnar-inspired hairstyle), which makes his gig in it much more special. This is also one of the rare moments sports fans will see Donaldson outside the playing field.

"Vikings" season 4 is shaping up to be the most intense season of the drama yet. Here, Ragnar and Rollo, who turned against him to work together with the folks of Paris, officially stop being brothers and start becoming the greatest of rivals.

After Rollo is offered power and Princess Gisela's hand in marriage, he saw this as an opportunity to prove that he is more than just his brother's shadow. While it remains to be seen if he will completely betray Ragnar, it sure looks like he is on his way there.

Just recently, History Channel released a bunch of promotional images for "Vikings" season 4. A couple of photos hinted that Ragnar and Bjorn will get into an argument.

"Vikings" season 4 premieres Feb. 18 on History Channel.
