'Vampire Diaries' Season 6 Spoilers: Will Damon split with Elena and find new love?

 tvline

The supernatural drama television series' sixth season will premiere after the winter gap, and fans who have been meticulously paying attention to details are speculating whether or not Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) will be looking to ignite his romance with Bonnie (Kat Graham).

During the mid-season finale, Malachai "Kai" Parker (Chris Wood), the malevolent warlock, managed to kidnap Elena (Nina Dobrev). While Damon has not been informed about this abduction, the imminent news will force him to re-strategize his plans.

Damon, who has not yet found out that Elena has been kidnapped, has not forgotten about Bonnie, who continues to be suspended and is suffering in the time trap. However, if fans are aware of the prowess of Bonnie's witchcraft, they know that the time she spends being trapped will only be for a brief period, after which she will find a way to escape and make her way back to the elder Salvatore brother, who is already overcome by grief that he left her with Kai in the first place.

As Bonnie returns to the normal time transcending Mystic Falls, the plan to rescue Elena will most likely end up in the pair developing an emotional bond. So far, Damon Salvatore's efforts in attempting to convince Elena that he loves her have all been in vain. After drastic measures forced Elena to erase all the romantic memories that she shared with Damon, the only one that she recalls is Damon being branded as a nefarious serial killer.

Season 6 will return with episode 11 titled "Woke Up With A Monster." The synopsis of episode 11 reveals that Caroline (Candice Accola) continues travelling with Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley) in order to search for a cure to end the suffering of Caroline's mother, who is suffering from cancer. While Stefan accompanying Caroline to aid in her quest will be considered a noble gesture by some fans, he has ulterior motives, particularly when he is caught by surprise by Enzo (Michael Malarkey).

Episode 11 will air on The CW on Jan. 22.
