'The Good Wife' season 7 spoilers: Alicia deals with Eli's revelation

What will happen between Alicia and Eli when "The Good Wife" returns for season 7B? Facebook/CBS

Eli (Alan Cumming) and Alicia (Julianna Margulies) will deal with the fallback of the former's revelation when the CBS series "The Good Wife" returns with the second half of season 7.

During the midseason finale, Eli finally told Alicia about Will's (Josh Charles) declaration of love back in season 2. Will sent a voicemail stating that he was willing to give up everything just to be with his lady love. That time, Alicia was otherwise engaged in helping Peter (Chris Noth) with his campaign and entrusted her phone to Eli. Fearing that his candidate's standing would be affected once Alicia accepted Will's proposal, he deleted the message. Eli has kept the secret all these years and it was only when he himself felt the pain of losing someone dear that he voluntarily revealed the truth.

Eli apparently liked Courtney (Vanessa William) a lot, and when she left for California, he was devastated. He decided to go to Alicia's place and tell her about Will's admission. Alicia was left speechless. She just asked Eli to leave as she deals with the heartbreak that followed. The letdown was especially difficult to bear, as she also just lost Jason (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) to Ruth's (Margo Martindale) Machiavellian ways. Peter's campaign manager succeeded in sending Alicia's new love interest to a place where he would not be able to cause damage.

Ruth asked Courtney to create a job position for Jason in California to put an end to his budding romance with Alicia. Jason chose to go, thanks to a hefty bribe, and while Alicia gave him her blessing, she was still feeling raw inside. It appears that she would never find a new love while Peter's career as a politician is not yet over. She especially realized this when her friend Eli admitted that he himself was to be blamed for Alicia's plight in love. Will they ever get over this hurdle?

"The Good Wife" season 7B returns Sunday, Jan. 10, at 9 p.m. EST on CBS.
