It looks like "The Vampire Diaries" continues to sizzle with excitement as the popular supernatural drama series moves forward with its eighth and final season. Family has always been a central theme in "The Vampire Diaries," and in the new season's sixth episode titled "Some Random Backwoods Path to Hell," it seems like series protagonist Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley) will have to make some major decisions for the people he loves.

Directed by Paul Wesley, Citizen Oracle reports that "Detoured on Some Random Backwoods Path to Hell" will have Stefan making some major sacrifices as he tries to save Caroline's (Candice King) twin daughters from the hands of their babysitter, Seline (Kristen Gutoskie). During the earlier episodes of "The Vampire Diaries," viewers learned that Seline is actually the second Siren, Sybil's older adoptive sister. In "Detoured on Some Random Backwoods Path to Hell," the Siren plans to sacrifice Caroline's twin Gemini's to resurrect the devil. Stefan will try to race against time to save the children, however it seems like some sacrifices will have to be made.

In the episode promo for "Detoured on Some Random Backwoods Path to Hell," viewers get to see Caroline warning Stefan.

The episode synopsis reads:

"When her children become the focus of the Siren's latest plan, Caroline (Candice King) takes drastic measures to ensure nothing gets in the way of keeping her family safe. In a race against the clock, Stefan (Paul Wesley) pledges to do everything he can to save the twins, while tensions between Alaric (Matt Davis) and Caroline boil over, leading them to face some harsh realities about the future of their family. Meanwhile, when Enzo (Michael Malarkey) finds himself unable to fight off Sybil's (guest star Nathalie Kelley) latest move, Stefan dives into his subconscious and along the way, sets off a chain of events that leaves him faced with a life-changing decision."
