FOX has finally announced the official premiere date and the new timeslot for "Sleepy Hollow" season. The show returns with on Friday, Jan. 6, at 9 p.m. ET.

The new season, which is deemed a soft reboot, will begin with Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison) in Washington, D.C., where his new and dangerous adventure takes him.

With Abbie Mills (Nicole Beharie) gone, Crane will be searching for a new Witness in "Sleepy Hollow" season 4, a mission he will get some help with from a motley crew and a new partner, former agent Diana (Janina Gavankar).

The mission will also bring Crane and Abbie's sister, Jenny (Lyndie Greenwood), closer together in "Sleepy Hollow" season 4 as they share the same grief.

Speaking about the new dynamic, Mison, who also thought the series will be canceled after Beharie's exit, told TV Line that their mission is "for Abbie, rather than despite Abbie's death."

Losing a loved one will also help Crane get along with his new partner, Diana, a single mom who will immediately butt heads with Mison's character.

"She has just lost her partner, and doesn't believe in the supernatural world, and is thrust into it with a man from 250 years ago. So she, having lost her partner, and Ichabod loses his... there is a hole that needs to be filled, whether they will admit it or not.," the actor explained.

"Janina and I seem to have found something quite nice, where we don't want to fall straight into each other's arms and be partners. And hopefully — I haven't seen any episodes yet — but hopefully, that reads," he went on to say.

The majority of the original cast are not returning for "Sleepy Hollow" season 4, although John Noble will still be back as Henry Parrish but in a much smaller extent compared to the previous seasons.

Some of the new cast members fans will meet in "Sleepy Hollow" season 4 include Rachel Melvin, Jerry MacKinnon, Oona Yaffe, and Jeremy Davies.
