Bethesda Softworks will not be releasing the "Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Special Edition" PS4 remaster mods, but the company believes that this would not stop the game from performing successfully in the market.

During an interview with MCV UK, Bethesda vice president of public relations and marketing Pete Hines spoke about the remaster's potential and differentiated their approach with the upcoming game "Dishonored 2" in terms of promotions.

"Even though I think Skyrim is going to do tremendously well, I don't think we need to spend a whole lot of time explaining what that is," Hines said.

"But with Dishonored 2, we want to spend time highlighting the fact that it is not just the same game. We want to show that the team has been really ambitious," he went on to say.

The "Skyrim Special Edition" remaster for the Xbox One will get mods while PS4 users won't. This had many gamers thinking that Bethesda has struck a mod exclusivity deal with Microsoft, which Hines denied on Twitter.

"That is absolutely not true," he tweeted to a fan who accused them. "We would have released mods on PS4 some time ago if it was up to us. We were told no," he went on to say.

Bethesda announced early this month that Sony did not approve the release of the mods for the "Skyrim" remaster and "Fallout 4" in "the way they should work."

The studio, however, promised that they are doing everything they can to find a way to release the mods to the PS4. In a previous tweet, Hines stated "We can't get into specifics. We still want to get mod support of some kind out on ps4."

At the moment, nothing is set in stone, but it sounds like Bethesda is trying to find a way to give PS4 mods to "Skyrim Remastered" and "Fallout 4."
