News has been achingly scarce about "Sense8" season 2, which is expected to premiere this year. But fans would love to know that the latest report about the show is that the cast and crew have already started filming.
Motion Picture Capital announced via Twitter that "Sense8" season 2 is currently shooting and is now "on its way." According to Yibada, folks from the show were spotted in the Andersonville neighborhood getting some work done.
The site adds that late last month, "Sense8" season 2 was also looking for extras, which hints that production really is underway, much to the excitement of fans who have been hounding for any morsel of clue they can get about the upcoming season.
While everybody is back to work for the new season, it remains unclear whether or not the show will make it to an August premiere as expected. Previous reports suggested that the sci-fi drama's return will be delayed.
It is widely expected that the new season of the hit Netflix series will be released in August. By that time, it will have been a year since the first season was released. Actress Tina Desai also gave fans a reason to believe that this was the target date.
The actress plays the role of pharmacist Kala Dandekar in "Sense8." Back in December last year, she tweeted out that she was heading to Berlin for a "Sense8" season 2 shoot, which made an August premiere plausible.
Around that time, Aml Ameen, who plays the role of sensate and Jean-Claude Van Damme fan Capheus, tweeted out that "we begin Season 2 in 10 days," adding fuel to the fire.
Not long after, series creator J. Michael Straczynski stepped in to clarify what the cast members meant.
"It's a separate shoot to grab footage during the holiday, not the start of full-on main unit shooting," he replied to a fan who queried about Ameen's tweet.
To make things more complicated, director of photography John Toll told The Film Stage last year that "Sense8" season 2 is set to start production next month. While he did not say it is the exact month they will start, he said that the cast and crew are considering it.
At the moment, only Netflix can say when "Sense8" season 2 will really be out.
